Contract Underwriter - Forensic

Opus Capital Markets Consultants, LLC is looking for experienced Forensic Due Diligence Underwriters to join our team of talented mortgage professionals! This is a contract position and a remote opportunity. Individuals will perform due diligence work as a Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate portfolios and to identify any potential red flags for fraud, compliance, and/or credit issues.

Responsibilities+

PRIMARY TASKS

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Review submitted loan file data and documents for adherence to investor and lender policies or review scope
    • Determine applicant credit worthiness by assessing financial situation & possible risk of default
    • Perform analysis of credit, income, assets & collateral
    • Experience with income validation including personal and corporate/partnership/complex tax forms
    • Able to identify misrepresentation, inconsistencies, and/or fraudulent activity from analyzing the loan documentation and transaction
    • Review and identify red flags for potential fraud and misrepresentation
    • Able to underwrite all loan types with minimal supervision
    • Underwrite & analyze Investor/Agency guidelines to make sure transaction meets requirements
    • Ability to document rationale for credit and collateral decisions
    • Time management and organization skills to effectively prioritize multiple objectives and achieve volume and quality goals
    • Capable of working under pressure from internal and external customers
    • Ability to handle confidential material in a professional, highly ethical manner, meet deadlines, maintain a high degree of diplomacy and tact
    • Maintain daily time entry and number of loans reviewed in system
    • Other duties as assigned required or assigned by the Director of Operations

Qualification+

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five (5) years forensic underwriting experience with three (3) years of recent residential underwriting experience
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Possess strong analytical & decision making skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Robust organizational skills
  • Ability to reconcile priorities and meet deadlines
  • Adaptable to change
  • Use of discretion and confidentiality
