Employees tell their stories.
I’ve been with Opus CMC for 12 years and each day is still a new adventure. I really enjoy the variety that our work environment offers. Each new deal caters to the specific client’s needs which allows each of my days to offer something fresh and always a new learning opportunity. Opus CMC’s support system is wonderful, and I know that I only need to reach out and ask if I need any additional training. I believe Opus CMC wants me to succeed and cares about my personal satisfaction in my career. Most of my co-workers have been here as long as I have or longer, so I feel that speaks for itself about the quality of the company.

With over two decades of mortgage experience under my belt, I embarked on my journey with Opus CMC in 2013. Although I had extensive knowledge in Origination, Underwriting, QC, and Servicing, Opus CMC provided me the opportunity to sharpen my third-party review skills. Opus CMC is committed to enabling its employees to rapidly acquire new skills and expand their horizons according to their interests. In my time here, I have progressed from being an Underwriter to Quality Control Underwriter, then seamlessly transitioned to the Securitization team. Today, I proudly hold the position of Securitization Manager.

My tenure with Opus CMC began in 2010, as a contract QC. Having worked for a competing due diligence firm, I quickly realized that Opus CMC is where I wanted to build my career. Thirteen years later, I’d make the same decision again as the core of the company has remained unchanged through the long haul. With new ownership in place, I’m excited for the opportunities and innovations that are in our future. Working together, I have no doubt that all of us at Opus CMC will exceed all expectations – both from our clients and our business.

I joined Opus CMC in June 2012, as an underwriter and quickly progressed to a QC underwriter in March 2013. Over the years, I have gained experience across a diverse range of deals, including Qualified Mortgage (QM), Non-QM, Conventional, Jumbo, Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS), Forensic and government-backed loans. Toward the end of 2014, I moved into Condition Clearing and Rebuttals, while also taking part in special projects, as well as supporting management with various tasks. For the past year and a half, I gradually integrated into Securitization, which led to my role as Securitization Analyst in 2024. Opus CMC has given me the opportunity to wear many “hats”—thank you! —which has expanded my skillset and allowed me to be a versatile team member.

I started as a contract underwriter in February 2013 in the Jacksonville office. At the end of my 90-day probation period I was promoted to a full-time QC position, skipped right over the full-time underwriter position! A year later I was promoted again to QC Lead which then transitioned into an Assistant Transaction Manager role. After a few years in that role, I was promoted to Transaction Manager, which is my current position. Opus CMC has recognized my hard work and adaptability and rewarded me for it. I am grateful to be part of a company that focuses on its people and their development.
Chris Zok
I started in the mortgage industry in 1993 after receiving an MA in English and Teaching. Prior to working with Opus CMC, I always worked in upfront retail or wholesale underwriting until receiving a call from a recruiter for an underwriter position at Opus CMC. I started as an underwriter in 2010 and was soon moved into a QC role, starting on a long-term GSE project. After working as a QC for a few years, I moved into the role of Quality Analyst in a newly created department at Opus CMC. In this position, I created and implemented quality audit forms and provided loan and review level quality analysis to management. I am now back in a QC position and my role has expanded to include training support where I help build training plans, materials, and job aids for employees. I am thankful to be a part of a company that provides ever-increasing roles and responsibilities for staff members to utilize and enhance knowledge, skills, and strengths.
